IFIs Reaffirm Commitment to Coordinate Results Management and Independent Evaluation for Better Development Results
At a high-level meeting held at the ADB headquarters, panelists discussed ways to promote synergies and constructive engagement between the results management and independent evaluation for international financial institutions (IFIs).
The Asian Development Bank is delivering on its goal to increase development finance to the Asia and Pacific region and is making good progress towards achieving its development and operational targets, especially in climate change and gender, says a new ADB performance review.
A special edition of this flagship publication tells 50 stories of how ADB’s partnerships with government, civil society, the private sector, and other development partners help to meet the needs of a rapidly changing region.
Standard explanatory data indicators (SEDIs) allow ADB to systematically assess broader performance data while avoiding undue proliferation of indicators. Although not formally part of the framework, it enables ADB to provide consistent and reliable performance information to external stakeholders, assess performance more rigorously to identify bottlenecks and inform action planning, and collect baseline data for future indicators.
Providing the right development aid is not only about the size of the loan or the number of roads or schools built. It is about knowing the loan is improving people’s lives in a sustainable way.
It is about ensuring that the school educates children with skills to support a country’s economic future, or that when a new highway is built, it not only spurs growth and fosters trade but also brings tangible benefits to surrounding communities.
